Summary: A trip back in time.
Comment: This is a rather obscure video for those who want to go back in drag racing history. It's a summer with Jim Dunn and family with one of the few semi-successful rear engined Funny cars from the early 70's. It's a wonder there was ever any progress in the evolution of the class. Of note is Jim's son, Mike, who is now a color commentator on ESPN's presentation of drag racing. Mike himself had a fairly successful career in drag racing, and still helps several teams test. Caution: this video can make more "mature" fans feel real old, real quick.

Summary: Funny Car Summer
Comment: The DVD arrived fast. I had not seen this movie since I was about 10. It was great to see drag racing when the average Joe could still run a Funny Car.

Summary: If you were there, you'll get a kick out of this
Comment: I really enjoyed this, but I'm a big Drag racing fan. It was fun to look at a snapshot of 1968 california. And if you watch NHRA drag racing, you'll really enjoy the Mike Dunn parts. It's inexpensive, and it's a part of history, I think you'll like it.

Summary: Dunn Family Home Video
Comment: The title of the video would have been more appropriately called the Dunn Family Home Video, in my opinion. It was not what I expected it to be, as I had hoped to see more 70ish Funny Car Drag Racing cometition. The video follows the Dunn Family during a summer, and most of the footage is of them and not drag racing Funny Cars...Disappointing to me, but a real gem for a Jim Dunn fan!

Summary: Funny car legond
Comment: Jim Dunn is one of the legonds of drag racing. This film offers an amazing glimpse into 'how it was' before all the huge sponsorships, hospitality tents, multi-car crews, etc. The day when a group of guys can get together and build a car more out of love, dedication, and hard work than money - long gone!

Editorial Reviews:

Jim Dunn is an Orange County, California fireman nine months out of the year. But every summer, for the past twenty years, Jim and his family pack up their suitcases and hook up their trailer to haul a funny-looking dragster to twenty different races in twenty different states. This unusual style of summer vacation has become a way of life for this fun-loving, action- oriented family. The film follows the Dunns' from their Southern California home life to the dangerous, often deadly, world of high speed drag racing and shares their joys and fears as they experience the thrills of this family obsession. Bonus Features: Previews| Scene Access| Interactive Menus. Specs: DVD5; Dolby Digital Mono; 98 minutes; Color; 1.33:1 Aspect Ratio; Year - 1974; SRP - $9.99.
